Ask the Voter File: L2 and IVC Media Launch VoterCount.ai

What if getting an answer from the national voter file were as simple as asking a question?

L2 and IVC Media have launched VoterCount.ai, a conversational AI platform that allows users to ask plain-English questions about L2’s national voter file and receive answers in seconds.

Instead of writing database queries, requesting counts from an analyst, or navigating complex voter-data tools, users can simply ask questions such as:

“How many registered independents under 35 live in this congressional district, and how many voted in the last two primaries?”

Voter Count translates that question into a query against L2’s national voter file of more than 217 million registered voters and returns aggregate counts and breakdowns based on geography, party registration, demographics, vote history, and other available voter attributes.

For campaign professionals, pollsters, researchers, journalists, advocacy organizations, and others who regularly need voter statistics, that can turn a process that once required specialized tools or technical expertise into a conversation.

Bringing the Voter File Into AI

Voter Count goes beyond its own conversational interface.

Professional and Team plans include access to a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing subscribers to connect L2 voter-file data directly with MCP-compatible AI platforms, including ChatGPT and Claude.

MCP is an open standard designed to let AI assistants securely interact with outside tools and data sources. In this case, it means users can incorporate answers based on L2 voter data directly into the AI workflows they are already using.

Rather than asking an AI model to estimate a voter statistic based on its training data or information it can find online, the AI can query the voter file itself.

That creates new possibilities for research and analysis. Users can ask questions, explore follow-ups, compare geographies or voter populations, and incorporate voter-file statistics into broader research without leaving their AI environment.

Making Voter Data More Accessible

For decades, sophisticated voter-file analysis has largely required access to specialized data platforms, analysts, or database expertise. Voter Count is designed to lower that technical barrier while maintaining the underlying depth of L2’s data.

“It is time to democratize voter data. Until now, access to reliable voter statistics required expensive contracts, hiring consultants, and complex SQL queries,” said Chad Peace, President of IVC Media. “A reporter on a deadline, a first-time candidate, or a university researcher or student can now get a reliable answer from the national voter file from a question asked in plain English—in seconds. And the MCP server plugs right into your existing AI platforms.”

L2 has spent more than 50 years collecting, maintaining, enhancing, and delivering voter and consumer data. Voter Count provides a new way to access that information as AI becomes an increasingly important part of how organizations conduct research and analysis.

“L2 has spent over 50 years building a national voter file that major campaigns, universities, and newsrooms rely on for its accuracy,” said Paul Westcott, President of L2. “Voter Count puts that data behind a simple chat box and connects it to the AI platforms our industry is quickly adopting. We are proud to partner with IVC Media to build the technology to make our data even more accessible to everyone.”

Built for Answers, Not Individual Voter Records

Voter Count is designed specifically for aggregate research and analysis.

The platform does not return individual voter records, personally identifiable information, or bulk voter-file exports. Queries run against L2 data in a secure environment that excludes personal information, while users receive aggregate answers and statistical breakdowns.

This approach makes it possible to unlock the analytical value of the voter file through AI without turning the platform into a tool for retrieving individual voter information.

Who Can Use Voter Count?

Voter Count is designed for anyone who needs to understand the electorate without becoming a database expert. That includes campaign staff and political consultants, journalists and newsrooms, pollsters and researchers, universities and students, advocacy and public-affairs organizations, and others conducting voter and electoral research.

Whether the question involves a single legislative district, a statewide electorate, turnout history, party registration, demographics, or comparisons between voter populations, the goal is the same: ask the question in plain English and get an answer grounded in the voter file.

Voter Count Is Available Now

Voter Count is available now at VoterCount.ai.

Plans start at $49 per month, with a 30-day free trial available on the Starter plan. MCP server access is included with Professional and Team plans, and Enterprise plans are available for organizations with larger-scale needs.

The combination of conversational AI and L2’s national voter file represents a fundamentally simpler way to work with voter data: instead of learning how to query the database, just ask it a question.
